Hands up who identifies as a DORTY WITCH???
March is here, and that means Spring is a-coming-in, but more importantly, it's WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH PEOPLE!!!!! and International Women's Day of course, on the 8th. That's something ol' Matty H (WitchFinder General- wonderfully rendered in my recently acquired artwork above) would NOT like very much at all, would he?! There's, predictably, quite a bit going on this month chez Herstorical Tours so buckle up babies !
Oh and PS: I'm on Substack! Mailchimp now charge because I'm over a certain subscriber threshold, and Substack is completely free for me - and you! I'm trialling it for now, but if you do use it - please follow me there, as I may well migrate over completely eventually, if it works!
Feb Funzies
But first a quick love letter to February, and to my sold out tours - THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Valentines Harlots Strumpets and Tarts was beautiful, despite the Siberian - like weather, and Hex and the City on Friday 13th was remarkably issue-free (I told you all- it's lucky for witches!).
Votes for Women was also a lovely saunter on a (rare) rain-free afternoon last month, and Magic, Mystics and Martyrs also saw a great turn out despite ----.
I also went to Leicester last month and was delighted to see all the proud artistic references to Leicester suffragette Alice Hawkins, from statues to murals (see below)
L-R Sally Salisbury (Harlots), private Hex tour gang London & Partners, Hawkins statue in Leicester market, Baroness and Polly with a happy customer (!) and The Nell Gwynne...
I also hosted a lovely private early morning witch tour this month for a fun group AND a second Harlots tour with the Foundling Museum which was also glorious. Below is a testimonial received this month.

Women's History Month: Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It was a sign, I believed, seeing Alice Hawkins' defiant figure everywhere in Leicester whilst I was there last month on un-Herstorical business. Women's History Month kicks off with IWD (International Women's Day) on 8th March, and I don't know about you - but I'm going to make the most of it with not just a tour on the day itself, but a whole weekend.
So, on 6th March I'm running Sinners, Saints and Saviours in the late afternoon where we'll explore Herstorical Southwark. Following that, on 7th March, is the Million Women Rise protest march to protest violence against women and girls. I'll be there, in a Herstorical costume, marching with my sisters. This march has been going for years but I think you'll agree, in light of recent events it is more timely than ever. Join me! All event details here.
On 8th March, IWD itself, I'll be running Votes for Women! in the morning. A perfect way to start off your day celebrating the achievements of women.

After IWD weekend, there's even more fun stuff. It's Mother's Day on the 15th, so why not gift Mum a Herstorical Tour? There's yet another Friday 13th in March so, as 'tis tradition, there'll be a Hex and the City tour on that day. I'm doing a fair few private tours after that, and then will be back with a public Mystics tour on 27th and Harlots and Strumpets with the Foundling Museum again on the 28th. Woo hoo!
So that's it for March! Whew! It's gonna be a big month. I'll be back later in the month on Substack with a Herstory of the month teaser - look out for that.
I just want to leave you with this: As much as it seems like everything is falling apart, remember, this is just the beginning. Everything is loud and messy right now, but as a wise suffragette once said
"All reformers have to be rebels, and history will justify us"
So get out there and rebel against the toxic system, however you can; whether it's joining the march this month, supporting women-owned business, generally being kind and loving, or maybe, just maybe, joining a Herstorical Tour! ;-) Oh and if you're on the march on the 7th and you see a mad woman in historical costume, do come and say hi! 😅
In Love and Solidarity!
