Herstorical Tours

The girls are back in town!

It may be all about Queen Liz right now and her impressive achievement but yesterday we felt like royalty as we were photographed swanning around our old stomping grounds to promote our upcoming tour Harlots, Strumpets and Tarts, Oh My!

In character as The Baroness, Nelly, Fanny and The Crone among others, - we amused and bemused the thronging tourists by flaunting our wares and strutting our stuff in and around Covent Garden, or ‘That Great Square of Venus’ as it was known in Georgian times. If we squinted and suspended disbelief, it was almost like being back in 1750 - that’s if you managed to drown out the blaring dance music from the buskers nearby and imagined that Starbucks was a tavern and that the Apple Store sold the fruit variety.

But although the shops might’ve changed, the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden hasn’t really changed much since the 18th century, it’s every bit as noisy and chaotic as it always was, and we didn’t feel like we were out of place. In fact, we felt like we were resurrecting the ghosts of Hogarth’s time and we certainly got a lot of interest from curious passers-by! Luckily we had some flyers on hand to spread the word!

Here are some of the behind the scenes images for your viewing pleasure…

Learn more about Nelly, Fanny and her chums and what life was like for them in London’s wicked West End of yesteryear, and join us for a gin (or two)!

Our theatrical walking tour experience is now booking for June and July. Go on, you know you want to!

In the wise words of Chas ‘n’ Dave, “Give me a London girl every time!”
