😩 (I’m sorry, the pun juice is low right now!) |
July JolliesJuly was, frankly, a brilliant month for Herstorical Tours, I’m not gonna lie! We did EIGHT tours this month, thanks to three private tours plus our regular walks and a Jailbirds of Old London summer special. Thank you to The Women’s Institute Finchley and West End; the mummy of a very lucky 12 year old who asked me to adapt my witches tour and add in some ghosts for her (our EMF reader DEFINITELY picked up on something in St Bartholemew’s Church!); and to the Foundling Museum for once again collaborating with my Harlots and Strumpets and Tarts tour. It’s important to know why women had to give their babies up to the Foundling Hospital in the 18th Century, and I hope I helped to explain some of the reasons why. What was also really fun and informative was attending a marketing masterclass this month and meeting some really inspiring female entrepreneurs, as well as gaining some useful tips for putting myself out there better. I’d definitely recommend talking to the experts if you’re anything like me and not media savvy at all! And FINALLY, one of the highlights for me this month was being cast in a Wednesday Addams promo feature as a Goth walking tour guide in Camden. It was fun being dead inside, totally new for me (!) and stalking the streets of Camden whilst being papped by influencers for Netflix’s new series. Below are some selected pictures of our fun-packed month! |

The good news is that if you missed our Foundling Museum/Harlots deal, it will be BACK in September and November. The September date is already up on the website, and you can book now.
As you can see, we can adapt tours to suit specific requirements, and we can host teens and (mature) children. So do get in touch if you want to enquire into a private tour, I’m very happy to discuss! Below is a testimonial, and check out the latest reviews here and on the social media channels, too.

August Antics 🔥
8/8 - Hex and the City
31/08 - Votes for Women!
August is a tad quieter, but you can catch Hex and the City, as usual, on the Lionsgate Portal 8th August, Harlots on 29th and Votes for Women! on 31st.
But September it all heats up again, with Museum and Festival collaborations and private events, so I’ll be back next month with a lowdown on what’s happening. If you can’t wait that long, I’ll be advertising many of the special events on my social platforms this month, so if you don’t already, follow me on them for all the latest news.
Comedy?
A bit of a diversion from the usual stuff I put in these newsletters but…
Some of you may or may not know that I’m in a comedy sketch group, you know, for shits ‘n’ giggles. We’re doing the Camden Fringe this year, on the 15th and 16th August. If you fancy it, come see us. It’s a 50 minute, eclectic show of short sketches that I would describe as the demented love child of Smack the Pony, Brass Eye, The Mighty Boosh, and the Fast Show. With smatterings of League of Gentlemen and Harry Enfield… Book here!

So, that’s it, I’m back in a couple of weeks as usual with the Herstory of the month. Thank you to everyone who responded so positively to last month’s Herstory on Stella Browne. if you missed it, here it is on the blog. I love hearing your feedback! Keep it coming!
If you’re away this month - enjoy the last gasps of the summer!
Much love,
Maria, Herstorical Tours…x
